Mulwala Waterski Club Legends
Brutis Ryan
Brutis started skiing for the club in 1982 and did so through to 1990, when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. However, his determination pushed him to return to skiing after treatment and in 1997, Brutis took off to ski in Germany, USA and Japan. Returning to the Ski club during summers to perform in the show and run the Waterski Pro shop where he coached hundreds of the next generation of skiers. In 2003 he joined the leadership of the Ski team and moved back to Mulwala full time and has been a ski coordinator ever since. Brutis’s passion, determination and skills have pushed the team’s abilities and brought a level of professionalism to the show. Brutis’s coaching and leadership are responsible for many successes on a national and international level and has coached many of Mulwala’s Juniors to become Australian Team skiers.

Brutis has been a driving force in taking the Ski Team locally to be the best in Australia but has been a huge part of Team Australia’s successes at an international level, including their first-ever win in China and being the first-ever team to beat the USA in a round at the World Championships. Brutis’s role in the Mulwala Waterski Club is that of a mentor, coach, skier, driver and administrator. But he has been involved in every aspect of the ski team, from cook to social organiser to fund raiser. His dedication to the club, team and sport makes him a legend at the Mulwala Waterski Club.
